What Are Smart Money Concepts?
Smart Money Concepts (SMC) are a set of trading techniques popularized by ICT (Inner Circle Trader). The core idea: markets aren't random. They're driven by institutions (banks, hedge funds, market makers) that leave footprints in price action.
By understanding these footprints, a trader can enter at the same level as institutions — before major moves.
The 4 Pillars
1. Order Blocks 🏦
An Order Block is the last opposing candle before a strong move (>1.5%). It's the zone where institutions placed massive orders.
- Bullish OB: last bearish candle before a strong rally → institutional buying zone
- Bearish OB: last bullish candle before a strong drop → institutional selling zone
When price returns to this zone, there's a high probability of a bounce.
2. Fair Value Gaps (FVG) 📊
A Fair Value Gap is a price imbalance between 3 consecutive candles. When the market moves too fast, it leaves a "gap" that price tends to fill.
Our strategy detects FVGs >0.3% as zones of interest.
3. Liquidity Sweeps 💧
Institutions need liquidity to fill their massive orders. They trigger liquidity sweeps by pushing price below swing lows to trigger retail stop-losses.
This is the classic "stop hunt": price dips, grabs liquidity, then reverses.
4. Break of Structure (BOS) 🔄
A Break of Structure confirms a trend change: - Bullish BOS: price breaks a previous swing high → bullish trend confirmed - Bearish BOS: price breaks a previous swing low → bearish trend confirmed

The Smart Money strategy requires at least 3 simultaneous confluences to enter:

Risk Management
- Stop Loss: -3% from entry
- Take Profit: +6% (1:2 risk/reward)
- Trailing Stop: 2% below highest price (if PnL > 1%)
- BOS Exit: immediate sell on bearish Break of Structure
