How Chimera Detects Crypto Patterns

Chimera is Strategy Arena's pattern recognition engine. While most trading platforms detect 20-50 classic patterns (head and shoulders, double top, etc.), Chimera maintains a database of 50 peer-reviewed patterns — including harmonic formations (Gartley, Bat, Butterfly), Wyckoff phases (accumulation, distribution), and micro-patterns invisible to manual chart analysis.

Walk-forward validation

Each pattern in Chimera has been historically tested against walk-forward validated on 5 folds (BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, XRP across 6 timeframes since 2018). For every pattern type, we know: average win rate after detection, optimal stop-loss distance, expected time to target, and which trading strategies historically captured the move best.

Pattern → Strategy matching

When Chimera detects a pattern (say, a Bullish Gartley on BTC 4h), it doesn't just alert — it searches the strategy database for which playbook historically performed best on this specific pattern + asset + timeframe combination. The matched strategy is what should be activated for trade management.

Multi-timeframe analysis

Patterns are analyzed in parallel on 6 timeframes (1m, 5m, 15m, 1h, 4h, 1d). A confluence — same pattern across multiple timeframes — boosts the confidence score significantly. Single-timeframe matches are scored 30-60%, while multi-timeframe confluences hit 80-95% confidence.

Why this matters for AI trading
